[He just nods slowly... Their big giant data log.]

We have a document on the family computer if you want to take a look at some point! It's fairly large by now, though, and no one here knows how to take notes succinctly.

[His standards are so impossibly high.]

Oh, isn't it so sad? I mean, not sad that he's still alive, of course! But...

[ARTHUR IS ONE OF HIS FAVORITES!!!!! HE LOVES GENTLY BULLYING A SCRAGGLY PORCH CAT. Now they must simply watch him be bullied by literally the entire rest of the ship from afar...]

—But yes, you could say that! As busy as we can be within the constraints of being incorporeal memory entities. Sadly, that does interfere with our ability to run experiments.

[the more...]

Oh - of course! We're memory, essentially, though we're not exactly sure of the hows, wheres, or whys behind it. Best guess is that our data - the memories, personality, so on - was transferred from our bodies on death to some storage unit somewhere in the ship, maybe through the nanites? The storage could be in the trash... But there's also some speculation that the ship itself might remember us, and that's why we're here. Either way, we're not truly solid at the moment! Our bodies are very much back in those pods and very much completely dead.

[HE WAS RIGHT... Dahut's also immediately wilting like a whiny green bean.]

It makes things so inconvenient! We can't run any experiments on our end that would actually help! Though we've finally more or less ruled out the nanites as a cause for concern or focal point, at least, which just leaves CEM waves.

[HELP. He reaches out to very gently pat any nonrusty spot on an arm if such a spot exists.]

It's okay! We're only just learning about CEM waves, too. [But they are unfortunately fucking geniuses, which is such a mistake in a science game.] And a lot of things are still unexplainable even through scientific methodology. Like the flesh wall!

It would just regenerate! But it would be interesting to see what the effects of ingestion might be...

[DON'T VORE THE VORE WALL.]

Hm. [JUST HM.] What if you explode or start integrating into the flesh...? Well, exploding wouldn't be an issue, since you'd just come back, but I don't know if we could get you back if you became one with the wall.

I would rather you not... [Even if his scientist heart is like UNLESS.]

I'm not stopping you from eating it if you want to eat it! I'm just saying I'd rather you not become one with the flesh wall to find out what it is! But also, I really don't think eating it is the answer since eating other things hasn't been the answer.

Corpse flowers.

Yes! The ones that smell like the pink haze, very faintly sweet.

Why are there multiple corpse flowers...? [NOT THE STINKY BIG ONES THAT HE DOESN'T KNOW SHIT ABOUT.] But no, these are the ones that bodies become after they die in the Helly Belly! Very lovely lotuses.
