Well! I can't say I blame them. A lot of precious bonds were made here, and it seems there are plenty of people in situations where it'd be best for them to leave their lives behind.

I think a good number of them are in situations where they need to return home to finish business first, even if they'd ultimately be happiest elsewhere... Otherwise, I would agree! It's really best to not mess with timelines and wordlines too much, I think? Even a small change could radically alter the future, in theory.
