[sometimes there are no happy endings! that's true. sometimes you are stuck in a brig and you know that you are likely going to die horribly in front of an audience tomorrow, and there's nothing you can do about it.

Most of the outside world believes it's something out of a myth - and in fact, Lemuria hasn't had contact with most of the rest of Weyard for centuries. They're not used to them, no... the last time someone from the rest of Weyard came to their shore was about a hundred years ago, after a shipwreck.
...they weren't especially welcoming to us, but... one of my friends was originally from Lemuria. But he got swept out to see, away from the island, after a tidal wave - which was how we met. He helped smooth the way for us.

Well, there were before I ended up on this ship, anyway.
It's less dangerous than traveling alone... there are monsters in our world, too, and they will attack travelers, but we've been able to look out for ourselves pretty well.
We can all use Psynergy... um, I guess other worlds would call it elemental magic. I don't know what mind reading has to do with the wind, but Ivan, who uses the same element as me, can read minds too.

After all, I would have never thought I'd end up here!

... however, I do not think there is anything wrong with there being sad stories. That is life, after all.
